What is Intrinsme?

Intrinsme IS self-care as a natural state of living instead of being seen as self-indulgent.

The Word is a portmanteau created from the words ‘iNtrinsic’ and ‘me’.

Intrinsic = belonging naturally; essential.

Me = referring to YOURself

OUR MISSION

Providing the opportunity for every individual to heal and manifest self-reconnection.

Intrinsme is curating a community centered around THE mental wellness JOURNEY.

WE want you to

Seek rewards from within.

Hi, I’m

Rahshonda Kirkwood

founder of Intrinsme. I started Intrinsme to create a safe space for People of Color and LGBTQ individuals to feel seen and heard when it comes to our mental health.

Intrinsme was initially supposed to just be a journal, what we now know as the Remedy Journal, to help me reduce my anxiety during the pandemic and get the most out of my therapy sessions. As time went on, Intrinsme morphed into a community platform that I knew needed space in this world to help others.

I was born and raised in Chicago, IL, and I am currently pursuing my Master’s in Counseling Psychology at the Chicago School of Professional Psychology and currently completing my internship at Turning Point Behavioral Community Center.

I currently have a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, and I am a Certified Payroll Professional through the American Payroll Association. During the day, I am the Director of People Operations for a data analytics company.

Other than building Intrinsme and going to school, I love horror movies and comics. I am a self-proclaimed foodie and dog lover, and I have seen Erykah Badu in concert 8 times!

Words from the founder

“Regardless of where you are in your mental wellness journey, you are welcome! I want you to know that whatever stage you’re at, you are not alone. Breaking free from trauma is a process, but it is a forward-moving one. It might be one of the most complex dances you’ll experience in your life, but the music never stops.

We may have experienced hurt, but we are not victims.”
